Every delegate’s language: the 2026 Fo Guang Shan Youth Summit
Flags of a dozen countries hung over the hall, and some 1,300 young people sat beneath them. At the 2026 Fo Guang Shan Youth Summit, delegates arrived from around the world — and the programme had to reach all of them at once. The challenge
An international youth summit is multilingual by nature. Delegates came from many countries, and the keynotes, dharma talks and workshops had to land for all of them at the same time. One spoken language reaches only part of a room like this.
A young audience also expects to follow along on their own phones — not through a headset — and no interpreter booth scales cleanly to a hall of 1,300 across six languages at once.
How Orato Flow helped
Orato Flow translated the summit into six languages at the same time. Each delegate opened a single link, chose their language, and read along in real time — no headsets to hand out, no booths to build.
The translation reached delegates two ways at once: on their own phones and laptops, source speech and translation side by side; and on the hall’s big screen, the same live captions kept the whole room together. Custom glossaries kept names and Buddhist terms consistent across the programme.
The outcome
Every delegate could follow the summit in their own language, from the stage to their seat — and the organisers ran a six-language programme for 1,300 people without booths, headsets, or a wall of interpreters.
